Computer Aided Drafting


Fact Sheet

This course is for people who want to learn how to set up and use a CAD system. Elective modules include 2D graphic work and 3D wireframe and modelling and add-on packages. This course does not teach drafting skills; it teaches you how to use a CAD system.

Vocational Education & Training (VET) courses are offered by TAFE institutions, private providers and some universities. They are accredited by the VET authority in each state or territory. Awards under the new Australian Qualification Framework (AQF) include Certificate I - IV; Diploma and Advanced Diploma (also offered in Higher Education); and Vocational Graduate Certificate and Vocational Graduate Diploma.
Courses included are mainly Certificate IV and non-award courses. These courses provide skills at a level beyond trade or trade equivalent skills.
Computing, computer-aided design & manufacturing, computer science, data processing, information systems, information technology, multimedia technology, programming, systems analysis & design.
The Innovation and Business Industry Skills Council covers, amongst others, training for the Business Services, and Assessment & Training Sectors. Training packages include: Assessment & Workplace Traiing; and Business Services (Business Services and E-Business streams).
A Statement is awarded on the completion of many short non-award courses or single units or subjects from other qualifications. Statement courses may be required for entry to other courses.
