Why are you changing jobs?

Why do you want to change your job? Knowing all the reasons exactly means you can address each one of them directly.

People change jobs for many reasons. Sometimes they enjoy their current job, but they want:

  • better pay or conditions.
  • job security.
  • a change of lifestyle.
  • more (or less) responsibility at work.

They might want to move on in their chosen career, but they can see that there aren't any opportunities for promotion where they are. They might be sick of traveling for work, or dislike the work environment. Or they might not be getting enough work to do in their present job. Or they're just bored; they've been doing the same job for too long.

Sometimes people's reasons for job change have nothing to do with their likes or dislikes about the job. For example, their partner is relocating and they want to go with them, or their employer company is downsizing.

What are your reasons?

Why do you want to change jobs? Do any of the above reasons apply to you?

Sometimes the real reasons aren't obvious. You just have a sense that you need a change, or a vague feeling that the job no longer suits you.

Further information

Are your reasons for changing jobs personal or job-related? If they're related to your personal life, changing your job may not be the answer.
