Web site administrators create and maintain the hardware and software required to run websites, and coordinate the content, quality and style of websites.

Duties and Tasks

Web site administrators may perform the following tasks:

  • create, maintain and improve websites
  • find, create and install tools to create web content and check for consistency
  • develop and enforce the website style and interact with graphic artists
  • make the website as easy as possible to navigate
  • set up and maintain web servers
  • make sure that standards are maintained so that links are lively and efficient
  • take editorial responsibility for the content, quality and style of the site
  • coordinate the work of support staff involved in putting together and maintaining websites
  • write reports and analyse website user statistics
  • repair any problems that may occur
  • provide user support.
