Scholarships are awarded to medical or dental graduates, eligible for registration in South Australia, or to appropriately qualified science graduates or health professionals, for the purpose of receiving training in research methods leading to a higher degree in the University of Adelaide or University of South Australia.

Eligibility

Applicants must be Australian citizens or permanent residents currently residing in Australia. Successful applicants must be enrolled full time in an appropriate course of study at a university or college (usually a PhD degree). The research project on which the training is based shall be performed within the Hanson Institute, incorporating the Royal Adelaide Hospital, the Institute of Medical and Veterinary Science, or academic departments operating within - or associated with - the Hospital, the IMVS, the Hanson Institute or the Medical School campus. In order that adequate supervision can be provided, the principal supervisor shall, except in special circumstances, be a member of the staff of the Hospital, or a member of the staff of the Hanson Institute, the Institute of Medical and Veterinary Science or the University of Adelaide, who has a substantial commitment to the Royal Adelaide Hospital. Attention is also drawn to the regulations of the Universities of Adelaide and South Australia, which govern studies for higher degrees.

Amount Information

The scholarship provides a tax-free stipend corresponding to those awarded for NH&MRC postgraduate medical and biomedical scholarships. The Research Committee offers an annual maintenance allowance of $2,000 per annum.
